Challenge

Arkive Headcare, founded by renowned hairstylist Adam Reed, is a salon-quality haircare brand with an inspirational mission. His unashamed openness about his own mental health fuels his desire to create more than just a natural and sustainable haircare range; he creates products that positively impact how people perceive themselves. While Arkive Headcare had swiftly gained recognition since its launch in 2021, the brand faced a pivotal moment.

To further its growth and better convey Adam’s unique approach to ‘headcare’, Proper was tasked with revamping the brand’s visual identity, then designing and developing a contemporary e-commerce website to engage current and new customers, thereby driving brand awareness and increasing traffic.

Approach

In redefining Arkive Headcare’s brand visual identity, our approach was to intertwine Adam Reed’s core values and his unwavering commitment to wellbeing. Central to forging a genuine connection with Arkive’s audience was leveraging Adam’s cherished childhood memories, particularly the fragrances he fondly recalled. This personal touch would significantly enrich the brand’s relatability and appeal. Additionally, incorporating Adam’s distinctive handwriting and tattoo artwork into the design would bring a personalised, authentic tone to the brand. These elements together would craft a unique identity, distinguishing the brand in a crowded market and enhancing its customer engagement.
